COVID-19, Spaces between Us

Monday, September 7, 2020 – Farrah Mahmood

The show which is representing the global pandemic situation that is leaving a very strong impact of fear and death globally. We have experienced the miseries, the fear of losing life, experience of death, changes in our daily routines, fear of being alone, fear of death away from your loved ones and fear of getting sickness from others. Sometimes it was easy to absorb this fear but sometimes not. The sensitivity and emotions, care, value and affection. The spaces which are important and the safety measures has taught human a lot about how to ‘care and share’ at the same time. In a way We must be thankful to this virus as we all getting connected for the betterment and carried out solutions. Trauma and uncertainty mould the ideas to rethink and reshape. In fact, WE were finally thinking to thank the Almighty for his blessings too the freedom we had earlier. As an artist I realize the Quranic verse is highly important for us humans which is “Kun Faya Kun”. WE as artists started thinking about the nature and the controlling power behind this universe.

The show is unusual not in the sense of its title but by the innovative thoughts of different works of 43 National and International artists, designers and architects works. The participants represented by showing different genres of visual arts; Paintings, photographs, installation, prints, writings, animations and mixed media. The idea behind this online exhibition is to engage artists to bring in these uncertain and depressing times. Since the situation of COVID-19 has left people hopeless, this exhibition will be a breath of fresh air.

Keeping in mind the prevailing danger of COVID-19, first time this show has been designed to be online, which will be linked up on different web sites for the promotion of artists.
